Bio

Gregg Voigt served ably as Lecturer in Exercise & Nutritional Sciences since 1995. Gregg received his Bachelor’s degree at Southwest Minnesota State University. He got his M.S. from the University of South Dakota, where he became Head Athletic Trainer and faculty member. He then served as Director, Division of Sports Medicine, at a clinic in Sioux Falls, SD until his appointment at San Diego State University (SDSU).

Gregg taught a wide range of courses including basic courses in kinesiology, physical growth and development, care and prevention of sport injuries, and athletic injury evaluation. He has faced personal health issues (cancer) for many years. Gregg participated as a patient in cutting-edge research with Mayo Clinic Doctors and has presented his survival story and perspective at national conferences attended by Mayo Clinic researchers. He has special insights to share because of his background in sports medicine. Through it all, Gregg has shown courage and grace under very challenging circumstances and has persevered with a long and successful career at SDSU.Gregg retired in June 2016 and soon after moved back to South Dakota to enjoy his retirement. Gregg passed away on June 19, 2020, at the age of 69.
