If you are interested in becoming a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, occupational therapist, athletic trainer, or exercise physiologist, Fitness Specialist is the best major for you. The Pre PT major is geared towards students who plan on becoming a physical therapist, physician’s assistant, medical doctor, veterinarian, or chiropractor. You will automatically be moved into upper division status upon completion of ALL “major prep” coursework, as long as you have met impaction criteria (2.9 GPA, Kinesiology: C or better in ENS 200 and BIOL 212, Nutrition: C or better in CHEM 100 and CHEM 130).

The WPA has been suspended as of Summer 2022. All students will need to take an upper division writing course to fulfill the requirement.

All major coursework MUST be taken for a letter grade. General education courses may be taken for Credit/No Credit. A grade of Credit (CR) is awarded for work equivalent to a course letter grade of C (2.0) or better. No Credit (NC) is awarded for work equivalent to all grades, which earn less than 2.0 grade points (C- through F).

Any lower division course (0-299 level) can be taken at a community college. Check Transfer Admission Planner to find course equivalents.
