Bio
Russ Romano is currently the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Medicine at the University of Southern California. He earned both his BA in Physical Education with emphasis in Athletic Training, (1989) and MA in Physical Education-Biomechanics (1993) from SDSU. Hired as an assistant athletic trainer at USC in 1993, he worked football and men’s basketball. He was hired back as the Head Athletic Trainer at USC in 1998 and has held that position since. In 2008, Romano completed a year-long fellowship with the Gray Institute. In addition to providing medical care for USC student athletes, he has authored/co-authored articles published in peer reviewed journals, has served as an Associate Editor for Neurosurgery in the sports and rehabilitation section and has also reviewed journal manuscripts for World Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery, Journal of Athletic Training and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Russ Romano is the principal member of the Keck School of Medicine USC Neuro-restoration Center and also serves on the PAC 12 Brain Trauma Task Force. Romano works collaboratively with Charles Liu, MD PhD in the evaluation, treatment, research and utilization of technologies aimed at brain health.
