Boundless Fashion Show
Doctor of Physical Therapy faculty, Dr. Harsimran Baweja, and student, Lindsey Rummings (2nd year DPT), produced a fashion show “Boundless”. The production showcased people with disabilities to raise awareness, encourage, and send a message of empowerment. The fashion show was held on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at SDSU Union Theatre. The beautiful models consisted of amputees and Adaptive Athletes, some from the local community and a few from the SDSU Adaptive Athletics Program. Featured designers were Re-Claim Sole, Shadi Designs, Designs by Vivanco, and Zeglio Custom Clothiers who donated their costumes and time for the fashion show. Several makeup artists and her stylists also donated their time and services for the models. Several first and second-year DPT students shared their talents by performing on the violin and singing “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman Motion Picture Soundtrack. The Boundless fashion raised approximately $2500 in ticket sales and donations for the Arc of San Diego. The Arc’s mission is to support and empower people with disabilities to achieve their life goals.
Lindsey Rummings is currently working on getting her Doctorate of Physical Therapy and will graduate with the DPT Class of 2021. During her time as a student in the PT program, she also professionally models. She had the inspiration for the fashion show from a class project to develop a leadership plan. This inspired the combination of Physical Therapy and fashion and Boundless was born. Modeling has given her confidence, so she wanted to use this opportunity to give back to the community. “We are all beautiful and unique in our own way!”, Lindsey said.
