Physical Activity Concentration
Overview
The Physical Activity concentration is in alignment with the knowledge, skills, and aims of the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine, to advance the understanding and promotion of physical activity behavior. This concentration prepares students for careers in public health, behavioral research, and community-based health promotion.
Curriculum
An in-depth exploration of the psychological and social factors influencing physical activity across the lifespan. This course bridges theory and practice, examining how individual characteristics, mental health, and environmental factors interact to shape exercise behavior.
A comprehensive examination of physical activity measurement through a blend of lectures and hands-on application. This course equips students with the technical and critical skills to select, implement, and interpret appropriate assessment tools (accelerometers, heart rate monitors, self-report measures) across diverse research and practice settings.
