Bio

Patricia A. Kimbrell, M. A. in Education, B.A. in Physical Education, from San Diego State University. Patty is a part-time lecturer at San Diego State University, she instructs ENS 241, Elementary Physical Education for Liberal Major Studies. She has instructed at several colleges and universities in San Diego. She authored the S.P.A.R.K. Early Childhood Physical Activity Program and contributed to the K-2, 3-5, Active Recreation programs. Her experience as a P.E. teacher, an elementary classroom teacher, and a mentor teacher for two school districts in San Diego strengthens her expertise in preparing future teachers how to instruct quality physical education. She has consulted with many agencies locally and nationally. She has been a Master Trainer for over 20 years for the “I Am Moving, I Am Learning”, a childhood obesity prevention initiative from The Office of Head Start. She continues to consult for the California Department of Education as an expert in the field of Physical Development for California Preschool Transitional Kindergarten Learning Foundations (PTKLF) and contributed to the revision of the Desired Results Developmental Profile-Revised 2 Preschool© (DRDP-R2 PS©). She advocates children need to develop healthy preferences while preferences are being formed for a lifetime of health!
