Passing of Emeritus Professor Edward P. Franz
Dr. Franz was committed to university and community service. In 1965, he founded the SDSU Aztec Gymnastics Program, which served hundreds of children and youth from the local community for 41 years. He was the program director and was responsible for offering classes and hosting competitive regional and national gymnastics competitions. This program also served as a vital feeder for master’s thesis and special projects for students and faculty.
Dr. Franz retired from SDSU in 2008. In addition to his noteworthy contributions to the San Diego community, he published books on weight training and gymnastics.
Dr. Franz and his wife, Susan, have three children, Dawn, Patrick, and Kailyn. Additional information about Dr. Franz can be found on his ENS Emeritus Faculty page.
The ENS family extends our condolences.
