Sara Gombatto

Dr. Sara Gombatto and Dr. Katrina Monroe are making waves in the world of healthcare with their groundbreaking work.
They have just been awarded the prestigious NIH Notice of Award for their R01 proposal, “Salud de tu Espalda Primary Care to Physical Therapy (STEPPT): Mitigating ethnic disparities in access and engagement in spine pain rehabilitation.” This incredible 5-year project, funded at a staggering $2.8M (2023-2028), is set to revolutionize how we approach healthcare disparities in spine pain rehabilitation for the Latino community. Dr. Gombatto and Dr. Monroe will join forces with the Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) to develop and test a multilevel intervention to reduce disparities in physician referral and patient engagement in physical therapy services.
