Passing of Emeritus Professor Brent S. Rushall

Brent S. RushallENS faculty member Dr. Brent S. Rushall (1939-2022) passed away on August 11, 2022.
Dr. Rushall was born in Sydney, Australia. He studied at Sydney Teachers’ College and the University of Sydney. He earned his MS and Ph.D. degrees from Indiana University. He was an All-American rugby player and outstanding swimming, rowing, and a rugby coach.

Dr. Rushall had positions at Dalhousie University and Lakehead University in Canada. He accepted a position at SDSU in 1985. While at SDSU, Brent advanced in the fields of sport psychology, elite coaching, and physical
education. He was an internationally renowned sports psychologist and served on the coaching staff for several Canadian Olympic teams. He retired from SDSU in 2004 and remained active in elite sporting environments, writing multiple books and manuals.
