FULL-TIME TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION FOR FALL 2020
MOTOR CONTROL/MOTOR LEARNING
The School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences (ENS) at San Diego State University is searching for a full-time (10-month) tenure-track faculty member in the area of motor control, motor learning, or movement neuroscience. This position will be at the Assistant Professor rank and will begin August 2020. An earned academic doctorate (Ph.D. preferred) in motor control, motor learning, movement neuroscience, rehabilitation science, or related field is required. Research expertise on central and peripheral nervous system control of movements across the lifespan and among individuals with physical disabilities is desirable. Research interests complementary to existing faculty in the School of ENS and in the College of Health and Human Services will support our goal of interdisciplinary scholarship. The ideal candidate will have the potential for building relationships with and collaborations among outside centers and departments, such as: engineering, rehabilitation, neuroscience, and/or neuroimaging (fMRI, MRI, EEG). Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of motor learning and control, kinetics, and kinematics. Previous teaching experience is desirable.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Engage in research leading to peer-reviewed publications and seek external funding to support and promote research. Mentor and supervise master’s students’ research projects. Engage in School, University, community, and professional services.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The School of ENS is in the College of Health and Human Services, one of seven colleges at San Diego State University. The School offers B.S. degrees in Kinesiology (with emphasis areas in Pre-Physical Therapy, Fitness Specialist, and Exercise Science Generalist), Athletic Training, and Foods and Nutrition; M.S. degrees in Kinesiology with a specialization in Applied Movement Science, Exercise Physiology, Nutritional Sciences, and a dual M.S degree in Exercise Physiology-Nutritional Sciences; and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
