Education

  • DPT, San Diego State University, 2015
  • BS, Kinesiology with emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy and Rehabilitative Sciences, San Diego State University,  2007

Clinical specialty, Interests, and Practice sites

In addition to my faculty role at SDSU, I currently work at Sharp Grossmont Hospital primarily in their Outpatient Neuro department with an emphasis on Vestibular Rehabilitation. I am passionate about helping those suffering from vestibular dysfunction as these patients are often unable to participate fully in their lives due to debilitating vertigo or imbalance. I am honored to be able to provide them the care they need to get them back to enjoying their life.

Research and Scholarship interests (Funded activity/Other research and scholarly activity)

My current research goals are to investigate the integrated clinical care pathway that patients with dizziness experience from time of arrival into an Emergency room to hospital discharge, and specifically how vestibular rehabilitative services are used in this process. Effective and efficient management of an acute dizzy patient is a challenging task which requires an interdisciplinary approach. Research has shown that dizzy patients are at higher risk for falls and often are misdiagnosed or mismanaged in our current health care system. More research needs to be done in this area in order to develop best practices and improve clinical care pathways. I am currently investigating this line of research with the support of Sharp Grossmont Hospital.
