Clinical

The clinical component requires a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience under the direct supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer. Athletic Training Students will gain experience with both men's and women's sports teams in a variety of athletic settings, while collaborating with sports medicine and support personnel. Students will complete clinical rotations at a minimum of 2 clinical sites within San Diego County. The affiliated clinical sites include, but are not limited to:
- San Diego State University
- University of California, San Diego
- University of San Diego
- Cuyamaca Community College
- Grossmont Community College
- San Diego City Community College
- San Diego Mesa Community College
- Southwestern Community College
- Cathedral Catholic High School
- Rancho Bernardo High School
During the clinical rotation a student may anticipate spending 20 hours/week in the athletic training room or clinical facility. This includes, but is not limited to, practice/game preparations, practice/game coverage, rehabilitation/injury management services, inservices, workshops, surgical observations, and opportunities to assist the physicians in a clinical setting.
